Objective and scope

Global steel industry is struggling with excess capacities, oversaturated steel market, low prices . Steel companies are searching for possibilities of a safer future. One of the most important possibilities is to focus on costumers requirements, on value-added products. Under these circumstances the improvement of steel cleanness is more important than ever; R&D, innovation in this field are important factors for survival.

The objective of Clean Steel 10 is to provide forum for experts working on the development of clean steel technologies and for users of these technologies to present their achievements, as well as to have discussions with the users of clean steels, defining their needs.

At former Clean Steel conferences well-known experts of the field from all over the world presented papers, participated in the discussions. Organizers of Clean Steel 10 hope to continue this tradition. Location of the conference, as earlier, is Budapest, a favourite tourist destination in the heart of Europe. Organizers of the conference are expecting papers first of all in the following areas:

  • formation and modification of non-metallic inclusions
  • simulation and model calculations
  • improvement and control of steel cleanness in practice
    • control of charge materials and refractories
    • primary and secondary metallurgy
    • stirring and flow conditions
    • slags and fluxes
    • process control
    • production of extra low C, O, S and N steels
    • remelting technologies
  • steel cleanness and continuous casting
  • cleanness and segregation in large ingots
  • behaviour of inclusions during processing
  • investigation and assessment of steel cleanness in molten and solid steel
  • cleanness and steel properties
